KATOWICE is a city situated in the Southern Poland. Katowice is one of the main centers of the Upper Silesian Industrial District. The history of Katowice began relatively recently - in the mid 19th century. The intensive development of Katowice took place especially in the interwar years, when the city became the largest economic center in Poland and the capital of the richest region. In Katowice, there were built: first Polish high-rise skyscraper, the Cathedral of Christ the King, the largest monument of the Silesian Insurgents, the most original of its kind – sport hall - Spodek and the only one in Poland Parachute Tower in Kosciuszko Park . These are the symbols of the city. Katowice is very interesting city with a lot of attractive places worth seeing.
